Black Lives Matter Campaign

This campaign has gained national prominence in the wake of the issues in Ferguson and New York, but Black Lives Matter has been operating since 2012 after the murder of Treyvon Martin. The goal of the campaign is to not only draw attention to and combat systematic racism in our country, but also to seeks to bring attention to those within the black community who still exist on the margins, such as women or those in the LGBT community. More recently, the campaign's demands have shifted focus to the community's relationship with law enforcement, directing their efforts to address the extreme rate of police violence.
