This 'smart' Barbie is raising concerns over children's privacy





Follow our discussion on privacy and this week's readings on locational tracking, this article presents a new set of concerns for the youngest generation.

Matell is set to release a new "smart" Barbie that can respond to a child's voice. Privacy advocates are raising concerns that this may lead to recording of children's conversations. With the locational tracking articles warning of a world where our every movement is tracked, it is chilling to imagine that it could begin in children as young as preschool.
